Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the cost of the Department of Health and Social Security/National Health Service audit group on value for money in the National Health Service; and what fees and expenses were paid to its members.

Mr. Whitney

The working group to review audit of the National Health Service was set up in 1982 and completed its work by 31 January 1983.

The directly attributable costs of the group totalled £1,028 which included £170.24 for travel expenses claimed and paid. There were no fee payments to members.
