§ Dr. Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list all the advice and circulars issued by his Department to local authorities since 1979 concerning standards of highway maintenance and the cleaning of motorways and trunk roads; and if he will place copies in the Library.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyAdvice on standards for routine maintenance, including cleaning of motorways and trunk roads is contained in the Department's code of practice on routine maintenance. This was issued in 1985 and is available in the Library. Agent authorities had previously adopted their own standards. Additional advice on routine maintenance standards is as follows.
