HC Deb 12 June 1986 vol 99 c282W
37. Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what studies have been undertaken into the effects of acid rain on agriculture.

Mrs. Fenner

My hon. Friend, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Environment, listed those research projects which concern acid rain and which are being undertaken or supported by the Government in answer to a question from the hon. Member for Caerphilly (Mr. Davies) on 11 November 1985 at columns 19–21.

In addition, the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology has carried out a study of the effects of air pollutants on agricultural crops. Its report, published last year, concluded that there was no unequivocal evidence that agricultural crops are damaged by acid rain.
