§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if a check on a fitting of a lower or upper limb prosthesis within one week, two weeks, one month or three months, respectively, is charged as minor, medium or major repair by the appropriate company; if he will provide a list of the relevant charges in the Official Report; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NewtonNo specific charge is made by limb contractors for inspecting or checking limb prostheses at any time after issue. The group price charged for repairing an artificial limb is determined by the extent of the work needed to make it serviceable and safe, and is unrelated to the time the limb has been on issue. In certain circumstances the contractor may be required to carry out repairs without further charge to the Department. The prices negotiated with contractors are subject to commercial confidentiality.
