HC Deb 09 June 1986 vol 99 c95W
Mr. Frank Field

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many have qualified for the severe disablement benefit under (a) the transitional provisions and (b) passport conditions;

(2) how many qualified for the severe disablement benefit under an 80 per cent. assessment test.

Mr. Newton

The latest information available indicates that some 252,000 people have qualified for severe disablement allowance under the transitional provisions for those formerly entitled to a non-contributory invalidity pension, and that, as at 11 March 1986, a further 5,700 people have qualified by satisfying the 80 per cent. disablement condition for the allowance.
