§ Mr. Freesonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to influence international aid and trade organisations to promote the sustainable development and protection of tropical rain forests.
§ Mr. RaisonWe have made it clear to all concerned that we support the wise use and regeneration of tropical forests, and have accepted the Food and Agriculture Organisation's tropical forestry action plan as a framework of our actions. We welcome requests from aid recipient countries for help in the forestry sector, and try to meet them in both our bilateral programmes and the work of the multilateral institutions of which we are part.
