§ Mr. Giles ShawI understand that Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jones was present in the control room at Leman street police station throughout the evening of 3 May and until after 2 am on 4 May.
Chief Superintendent Goodall was the officer in overall command of mounted police and officers deployed in protective uniform that evening. The commissioner assures me that no instructions were given to prevent demonstrators leaving Wellclose street and Wellclose square. The annual salary of a Deputy Assistant Commissioner is £32,352, inclusive of London weighting and London allowance.
