HC Deb 09 June 1986 vol 99 cc20-1W
Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he is taking to accelerate the standardisation of fire resistance tests within the European Economic Community.

Sir George Young

The Commission of the European Communities is preparing proposals for standardisation of fire resistance tests for building materials. As these proposals develop, the Department will be consulting the fire test laboratories and the industry through the appropriate British Stadards Institution committees.

Mr. Hancock

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many people were on the waiting list for council accommodation in each of the local authority areas in Hampshire as of 31 May; and what was the figure on 31 May 1981.

Sir George Young

This information is not held centrally. Local authorities' own criteria for accepting people on to their waiting lists may vary from time to time and thus make comparisons problematic.
