HC Deb 09 June 1986 vol 99 c60W
Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many industrial and non-industrial Civil Service jobs, listed by grade, would be lost under proposals to put out to contract work at the Central Ordnance Depot, Bicester.

Mr. Freeman

A recent feasibility study identified a total of 250 posts which could be affected by our proposals for contracting-out administrative functions at Central Ordnance Depot Bicester. However, until a full implementation study — which also embraces the associated garrison — has been completed, details of precise numbers and grades will not be available.

Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many industrial and non-industrial Civil Service jobs at the Central Ordnance Depot, Donnington, listed by grade, are involved in proposals to put out to contract work presently done by their occupants.

Mr. Freeman

It is our intention to conduct a feasibility study into contractorisation of administrative functions at COD Donnington and its associated garrison. An assessment of the areas suitable for contractorisation and the overall numbers likely to be affected will not be known until that study is completed.

Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects the report on proposals to put out to contract industrial and non-industrial Civil Service jobs at the Central Ordnance Depot, Donnington, to be completed.

Mr. Freeman

We expect the feasibility study on contracting-out of administrative functions at COD Donnington to be complete by November 1986, and to embark on the normal consultations shortly thereafter.
