How many staff were employed by (a) the Nature Conservancy Council, (b) the Countryside Commission, (c) the Countryside Commission for Scotland, (d) the Forestry Commission and (e) the Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas, in 1979 and in 1985 respectively.

The numbers of permanent staff were as follows:

(a) Nature Conservancy Council 589½ 582½
(b) Countryside Commission 114 89
(c) Countryside Commission for Scotland 57½ 54½
(d) Forestry Commission 8,323 6,273
(e) Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas 305 292½
All figures are for 1st April in the year concerned, except those for the Forestry Commission, which are for 31st March.
