Information is not available on the number of school leavers in each jobmarket area, but it is estimated that there will be about 20,000 people under age 18 leaving school in Northern Ireland in 1986. Not all of these will be available for employment as some 20 per cent. continue their education in full-time non-advanced courses in further education colleges. In the 12 months to 4 april 1986, 8,554 young persons were placed in employment by careers sections of Jobmarkets in Northern Ireland.
