§ Mr. Boyesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will list in the Official Report the members of each water authority stating (a) their date of original appointment, (b) their date of completion of present appointment, (c) whether councillors or not and (d) their present professions;
(2) what is his policy towards the appointment of full-time executive water authority members;
(3) if he will list in the Official Report a list of those members of each water authority whose terms of office has been or will be completed in the current year, stating in each case whether or not they have been or will be reappointed;
(4) what criteria he uses in deciding whether to reappoint water authority members who complete their period of office.
§ Mr. John PattenAs stated in paragraph 102 of the white Paper "Privatisation of the Water Authorities" (Cmnd. 9734) a WSPLC will not necessarily have the same board members as the present water authorities.
Individuals will be appointed or reappointed who are best equipped to contribute positively to the efficient running of these important businesses. In line with policy since 1983, they will often include full-time executive members.
Not all decisions on the position of members whose periods of appointment expire in the current year have yet been taken but where available the information sought on individual members is shown in the following table.
