§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the previous authorised complement of non-uniformed staff in the London fire brigade; and what is the current authorised complement of non-uniformed staff under the new organisation following the abolition of the Greater London council.
§ Mr. Giles ShawThe establishment scheme approved by my right hon. Friend for 1986–87 provides for 1,181 non-uniformed posts. Before 1 April 1986 my right hon. Friend had no responsibility for the establishment of non-uniformed staff, but I understand that the number in post in the London fire brigade on 31 March was 997. My reply to my hon. Friend's previous question on 19 May, at column 16, explained the reasons for the change.
