HC Deb 03 June 1986 vol 98 c447W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Prime Minister (1) whether the search of Ministry of Defence records in connection with the allegations relating to Dr. Kurt Waldheim's wartime activities has yet yielded information which would lead Her Majesty's Government to seek from the United Nations copies of all documents in their possession relating to those activities; and if she will make a further statement;

(2) if she will make it her policy to make a statement to the House before 8 June on the interim results of the search of military records of the Ministry of Defence in connection with Dr. Kurt Waldheim's wartime activities.

The Prime Minister

The search of Ministry of Defence records is continuing. It is being given priority. But equally it must be thorough and cannot be tied to a particular deadline. It would be inappropriate to comment, or to consider seeking access to United Nations files, until the search is completed.
