§ Mr. John Fraserasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the financial consequences for the British Home for Incurables hospital in Crown Lane, London SW16 of changes in the payment of housing allowances for those admitted under the age of 65 years.
§ Mr. NewtonI presume the hon. Member is referring to changes in the supplementary benefit limits for residential care and nursing homes. Information on which to base the estimate requested is not available. However, prior to April 1985, when the new structure was introduced, the weekly supplementary benefit entitlement of residents in the home ranged from £136.15 to £164.75. The national limit for disabled residents below pension age in this type of home was £198.60 a week from April to November 1985 and has been £230 a week since then.
