asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what were the costs to public funds of the policing of the Bilderberg conference.

Mr. John MacKay

[pursuant to his reply, 19 May 1986, c. 1]: I understand from the chief constable of Tayside police that, excluding the costs of policing inside Gleneagles hotel and its grounds which were reimbursed by the conference organisers, his force incurred costs amounting to just over £57,400 in relation to this conference.
