Mr. Sheerman

asked the Paymaster General if he will publish in the Official Report the information available from the 100 per cent. YTS leavers' surveys about (a) the range and average wages earned, (b) the hours worked and (c) the types of jobs done by those leavers (i) in full-time work with the same employer (ii) in full-time work with a different employer and (iii) in part-time work.

Mr. Trippier

The latest summary information for leavers between April 1985 and September 1985 is given in the tables following. There is no information collected in YTS leavers survey on hours worked. Leavers earnings are given by the leavers and may be subject to reporting error.

Mr. Sheerman

asked the Paymaster General if he will place in the Library the full result of all the 100 per cent. YTS leavers' surveys which have been conducted.

Mr. Trippier

As the hon. Member will know, key monthly statistics from the 100 per cent. survey of YTS leavers are regularly placed in the Library.

The Manpower Services Commission is currently preparing a full report covering the survey results and I have arranged for a copy to be placed in the Library in due course. It will be the first of a regular series.

The survey produces a wealth of information about young people who enter YTS and it is impossible to predict all the facts and figures which individual Members will wish to know. For that reason I will continue to respond to specific requests for information as they arise.
