HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 c504W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what proportion of total value of British bilateral aid to sub-Saharan African countries in 1985 was used for family planning.

Mr. Eggar

In 1985, British bilateral assistance to sub-Saharan countries totalled £285 million. About £150,000 or .05 per cent. of this was spent specifically on family planning activities as narrowly defined.
