§ Mr. John MacKayConsultation on the extension of general management function to units in the NHS in Scotland concluded on 18 July. I am now considering the comments received and I hope to be able to issue final guidance on the implementation of unit general management in the very near future.
Implementation of general management at board and unit levels will be contained within existing management cost limits. I expect the development of general management to lead to greater efficiency in the use of resources.
