asked the Minister for the Arts if he has made an assessment of the impact on attendances arising from museum charges.

As I told the hon. Member in my written answer of 11 July, many factors can affect attendances at museums and it is difficult to isolate the effects of any one factor. The introduction of museum charges is a matter for the trustees' discretion.
