HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 c742W
Mrs. Currie

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services on what basis restrictions have been placed by pathology consultants at King's college hospital, London, on tests for blood and urine; whether urgent cases are in any way affected; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hayhoe

TheDaily Mirror report on this subject on 16 July was misleading. Consultants at King's College Hospital have themselves decided to introduce a system to control the number of routine and non-urgent cases that they are responsible for undertaking: urgent cases are not affected. It is this example of good management which the Daily Mirror chose to condemn.
