§ Mr. Hoyleasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) if the International Tin Council has taken on any new heads of expenditure in 1986–87; and what proportion of the United Kingdom's contribution is taken up thereby;
(2) pursuant to the answers on 22 July, why the United Kingdom's contribution to the administrative budget for the International Tin Council has risen to £76,117 in 1986–87; why the number of staff employed has fallen from 39 to 19; if he will specify the amount of the United Kingdom contribution devoted to staff pay; and if he will itemise what the £76,117 is to be spent on.
§ Mr. Alan ClarkDetails of the administrative budget of the International Tin Council are confidential. However, the Council expects to have to incur increased expenses in 1986–87 in dealing with the legal actions brought by its creditors. The fall in the number of staff employed in 1986–87 reflects the reduced role of the Council following the cessation of buffer stock operations. There are termination payments associated with staff reductions.
