HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 cc566-7W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when the Association of London Authorities made a formal request to his Department that Greater London council seaside and country homes should be transferred to a housing association where fair rents apply; and how the request was communicated.

Sir George Young

The proposal for transfer to a housing association was first put to me on 3 October 1985 by the inter-borough nomination scheme, with unanimous support from member boroughs. I have received other letters of support, notably one from the chairman of the housing and works committee of the London Boroughs Association and another from the GLC which referred to support expressed by the Association of London authorities.
