asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate how much of the cash compensation for free school meals and free welfare milk

Note: nil means no Housing Benefit payable.

Assumptions: 1. In the one-child families the child is aged 3; in the two-child families the children are aged 4 and 6; in the three-child families the children are aged 3, 8 and 11.

2. In one-child families rent is £15.40 and domestic rates £67.20 per week. In two and three-child families rent is £16.50 and domestic rates £6.30 per week.

3. As for the present scheme, a minimum payment of 50p for both rent rebate and rate rebate; ie no entitlement where amount would be less than 50p.

4. .The November 1985 income tax rates and allowances and national insurance contributions apply.
