Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list in the Official Report, for each county, the average number of electors per councillor in district or metropolitan borough councils.

The information requested for each county in England and Wales is given in the table, based on the numbers of local government electors on the 1986 electoral registers as shown in "Electoral Statistics — Local Government 1986" (OPCS monitor EL86/1).
