HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 c679W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the Department of Customs and Excise will reassess and improve the training of officers investigating literature which they believe may contravene import prohibitions.

Mr. Brooke

Following the judgment by the European Court of Justice in the Conegate case, Customs are now applying the standards of relevant domestic legislaton to imported literature. Instructions to Customs staff are being revised accordingly. These will be reflected in future training programmes.
