HC Deb 24 July 1986 vol 102 c355W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will publish the report of the safety and reliability directorate entitled "The Consequences of a Hydrogen Explosion in B38 Magnox Silo Second Extension".

Mr. Goodlad

No. I am advised that the document, which was commissioned from the Safety and Reliability Directorate (SRD) by British Nuclear Fuels plc, was one of a number of studies which formed part of the consideration by Her Majesty's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate of the safety case for the second extension of the B38 Magnox silo. Subsequent to the SRD study, improvements have been progressively introduced to the existing silos and to the design proposed for the second extension, following which Her Majesty's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate gave consent for its operation in February 1982.
