HC Deb 24 July 1986 vol 102 cc388-9W
Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many convictions there were for motoring offences in each of the past five years in the United Kingdom;

(2) what has been the number of convictions for dangerous driving offences in the United Kingdom in each of the last five years.

Mr. Mellor

The latest available information on findings of guilt for motoring offences, by type of offence, is published in table 5 of Home Office Statistical Bulletin 28/85 "Offences Relating to Motor Vehicles, England and Wales". In 1984, there were about 5,000 findings of guilt for offences of dangerous or reckless driving and nearly 2 million findings of guilt for all motoring offences.
