HC Deb 24 July 1986 vol 102 c472W
Mr. Straw

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what procedures or machinery exist to monitor adherence to contractual terms by Government suppliers and contractors; if any firm has ever lost a contract with a Government Department, or been removed or suspended from an approved list maintained by a Government Department, or has been penalised in any other way, through its failure to comply with (a) any contractual term, (b) the term relating to the Race Relations Act 1976 and (c) any other statutory duty.

Mr. Brooke

The Department letting a contract is responsible for monitoring adherence to contractual terms and for taking any action which would be necessary. Central records are not kept and the information sought could not be obtained without disproportionate expenditure.
