asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received from applicants seeking a licence to run a community radio station about his decision not to proceed with this scheme.

As at 22 July we have received 21 letters of complaint from those who applied for experimental community radio licences.

Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many letters (a) of protest and (b) of approval he has received in respect of his announcement of the indefinite postponement of the community radio experiment.

Mr. Giles Shaw

As at 23 July we had received 39 letters of complaint and three of approval in respect of my right hon. Friend's decision that the community radio experiment should not take place.
