HL Deb 24 July 1986 vol 479 c485WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What requests or discussions they have had concerning the storage of chemical weapons in this country.

Lord Trefgarne

Her Majesty's Government have received no such requests. As I made clear to the noble Lord, Lord Kennet, on 19th May (Col. 4, Volume 475) any deployment of chemical weapons to the United Kingdom at any time would require the consent of Her Majesty's Government. If such a request were ever to be received it would be a matter for decision by the British Government of the day, in the light of all the circumstances prevailing at the time.
