HC Deb 23 July 1986 vol 102 cc271-2W
Sir Geoffrey Finsberg

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many refusals of planning permission have been reversed on appeal to him in each London borough during the last period of 12 months for which figures are available.

Mr. Tracey

The number of planning appeals allowed for the London boroughs during the period April 1985 to March 1986 is as follows:

Boroughs Appeals allowed
City of London 0
Barking and Dagenham 4
Barnet 32
Bexley 10
Brent 23

Station Aerosols Sulphur 35 Iodine 13 Argon 41
(1) (2)
Berkeley 4 5
Bradwell 9 37
Hinkley Point A 16 30 4,806 3.0E8
Hinkley Point B 42 2,849 38 1.5E7
Trawsfyndd 28 41
Dungeness A 27 40
Dungeness B <40 <5,400 22 2.8E6
Sizewell 73 447 1,100 1.1E8
Oldbury 14
Wylfa 8
Hartlepool <3 <588 71 1.5E6
Heysham <4 1,307 228 1.8E5

Some of these figures are enhanced due to the detection of fallout from the Chernobyl accident. This reached a maximum on 2 and 3 May and affects the figures for aerosols for those stations with shield cooling air systems. Column 1 under aerosols excludes the measurements for 3 May and column 2 gives the measurements for 3 May.

It will take a further two to three weeks to obtain the figures for the facilities run by British Nuclear Fuels plc and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. I shall then write to the hon. Member.
