asked the Paymaster General how many of those who complete the YTS, and what proportion, are retained in full employment in (a) the public sector and (b) the private sector.

Information is not available on the proportion of YTS leavers who are retained in work in the public sector and private sector. The latest survey results, covering those who left YTS between April 1985 and January 1986, show that 28 per cent. of all leavers and 41 per cent. of all who completed their time on YTS, where in work with the same employer who provided their training some three months later. Altogether 57 per cent. of leavers were in employment and two thirds either in work or full-time education and training.
