HC Deb 16 July 1986 vol 101 c560W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how long it takes on average between the sampling of lambs for the purpose of establishing the level of radioactivity and the time when the results of these samples are known to his Department's officials; and what was the longest delay in obtaining such results in the period since 1 May.

Mr. Jopling

The time between obtaining samples and the results becoming known to my officials range generally from three to seven days depending on the pressure of work at the laboratories and their location in relation to the sampling area.

It would take a disproportionate amount of time to obtain the information requested in the second part of the question since information appropriate to each sample would have to be examined.
