Whether they have been informed of the hope expressed in the European Parliament that member states of the European Economic Community will individually protest to the Ethiopian Government about their villagisation programme; and if so whether they will make such a protest.
§ Baroness YoungWe have not formally been notified of discussion of villagisation in the European Parliament, although we are aware that a Motion on this subject was recently tabled in another place, but not debated. However, we have made clear to the Ethiopian authorities on a number of occasions our concern over the villagisation programme, and shall continue to do so.
