§ Mr. Cabornasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will give details of the controls introduced to enforce the ban on the sale and export of computer equipment capable of use by South African military forces, police or security forces, as agreed in the Commonwealth accord on southern Africa on 20 October 1985.
§ Mr. Alan ClarkThe Export of Goods (Control) Order 1985, as amended, subjects most computers and associated equipment to export licensing for all destinations, including South Africa. A licence is not issued unless the end-use and end-user are satisfactory.
