§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Prime Minister what progress has been made on the devolution of control of Welsh and Scottish universities from the Department of Education and Science to the Welsh Office and Scottish Office.
§ The Prime MinisterThere is no present intention to devolve control of the Welsh and Scottish universities. My right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and for Education and Science are considering the recommendations of the Scottish Tertiary Education Advisory Council on the planning and funding of higher education in Scotland.
