HC Deb 14 July 1986 vol 101 c323W
Mr. McWilliam

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if it is his intention to make redundant Property Services Agency staff employed in the Palace of Westminster and put their work out to contract; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

Following discussions with their trade union, the remaining seven cleaners employed by the Property Services Agency at the Palace of Westminster have accepted redundancy. Their employment ended on 11 July. From that date their work will be taken over by the contractor who already undertakes the rest of the cleaning work at the Palace for which the agency is responsible.

Two plant attendants also accepted redundancy on the same date. Existing contractors will take over their work as necessary.
