§ Mr. TraceyAfter having taken immediate steps to prevent the collapse of the building, between 1975 and 1984 my Department carried out the following projects: replacement and repair of masonry on the gatehouse; major renovation of the south range, including the construction of a new roof and the replacement of the wooden gallery; and the construction of new internal walls.
In 1975, it was estimated that the full restoration would take more than 10 years to complete.
