§ Mr. Hancockasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what response he has made to the British Council's request in its annual report for more resources to pay for increased security measures.
§ Mr. EggarWe have informed the British Council that we are very sympathetic towards its security requirements. They have already been told that, subject to parliamentary approval, some adjustment to their grant will be made during the course of the current financial year, 1986–87, in view of the increase of risk. As regards future years, the House will not expect me to anticipate the results of the public expenditure survey.
