§ Mr. Hawksleyasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many service pensioners, in each of the last three years, who have been sent to prison, have been allowed to retain their pension; and how many have had it stopped.
§ Mr. FreemanWith the exception of certain very grave offences (for example, an act of treason) where pensions248W are liable to total forfeiture, the practice of automatically withholding a service pension during a period of imprisonment ceased with effect from 1 December 1984. Prior to 1 December 1984 figures are not separately maintained and to provide them would require disproportionate effort.
