Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) what information he has as to the number of miners dismissed as a result of activities during the miners strike who have not been re-employed, as to how many of those originally dismissed who have been reinstated and as to how many of those dismissed who currently have their cases under review by the Coal Board;

(2) what information he has as to the number of dismissed miners in (a) Scotland and (b) England and Wales, who have taken their cases to industrial tribunals, as to how many have won their cases, as to how many have subsequently been reinstated by the board and as to how many of those successful at industrial tribunal have been paid compensation in full.

Mr. David Hunt
