§ Mr. Alan ClarkThe published trade statistics are already in the Library and show that South Africa remains a major trading partner of the United Kingdom. Furthermore, my hon. Friend will have noted from my recent answers to the hon. Member for Birkenhead (Mr. Field) on 23 June 1986, at column 41, and to my hon. Friend the Member for Southend East (Mr. Taylor) on 24 June, at column 142, that a large number of jobs are involved in that trade, with certain sectors particularly vulnerable to any disruption.
