HC Deb 07 July 1986 vol 101 cc85-6W
48. Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Minister for the Arts what plans he has to help young people not in school to participate in musical performance.

Mr. Luce

The Arts Council expects all its clients to engage in educational activity, encouraging young people to participate.

The council has budgeted £70,000 for musical education in 1986–87, and the regional arts associations will also be spending considerable sums on this. A substantial proportion will be spent on projects not involving schools.
