asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has for the amount of oilburn in Scottish power stations.

Mr. Allan Stewart

I am advised by the Scottish electricity boards that the amount of oilburn will depend on the future level of oil prices. I understand that under the recent agreement with the National Coal Board, the bulk of the Scottish boards' fossil fuel requirements will be met by coal.
