HC Deb 07 July 1986 vol 101 c65W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has about the involvement of (a) the South West Africa People's Organisation and (b) other organisations in acts of terrorism in Namibia during the last five years; what information he has about the nature and extent of casualties to civilians, police and military personnel; and if, in the light of that information, he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy towards the future status and administration of Namibia.

Mrs. Chalker

The Government have no independent source of information about the responsibility for and extent of such acts of violence in Namibia during this period. We support the early independence of Namibia on the basis of the United Nations plan.
