Mr. David Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how much has been spent on maintenance on the M3 Surrey stretch of motorway each year since its operation; and how often and for how long maintenance work has necessitated introduction of a contraflow system.

Total amounts spent on major works of maintenance on the M3 in Surrey have been as follows:

Expenditure was also incurred on certain less important works and routine maintenance. The total amounts cannot readily be identified.
