HC Deb 07 July 1986 vol 101 cc3-4W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make it his policy that, apart from any other compensation that may be payable, he will pay compensation of lost subsidy to those sheep farmers whose lambs will not qualify for subsidy when sold due to the ban on marketing if they would have qualified for subsidy had the ban not been imposed.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

I have today had discussions with representatives of the farming unions in Wales on the question of compensation. Their views will be taken fully into account and I hope to be in a position to make an early statement.
