HC Deb 04 July 1986 vol 100 c664W
Mr. Bermingham

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the average weekly dose by volume per capita of each of the main categories of drugs given in (a) each prison for male prisoners and (b) each prison for female offenders, during the last year for which figures are available.

Mr. Mellor

Medicines administered to prisoner patients are not statistically recorded by volume. Information on the use of medicines in prison service establishments, including information about the use of certain categories of medicines, is published annually in the report on the work of the Prison Department, copies of which are in the Library. The most recently published report is that for 1984–85 (Cmnd. 9699).
