§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people have been detained in a mental hospital or psychiatric unit in each of the last seven years under the provisions of section 36 of the Mental Health Act.
§ Mr. WhitneySection 36 of the Mental Health Act 1983 was implemented on 1 October 1984. Between that date and the end of 1984 there were six admissions to mental illness hospitals and units in England. Figures for 1985 are not yet available.
